The timber front doors were very old, and had become warped and cracked letting in draughts and were energy inefficient. The doors were beyond economic repair and needed replacement.
Therefore our objective in 2023 was to install new doors to improve the users’ comfort, security, reduce heating costs and enhance Thatcham’s historic environment. The target of raising £10,000 was achieved through very generous donations from individuals and organizations, , following which a selection process was undertaken to identify a local skilled carpenter to undertake the work.
We have successfully delivered against all our aims & objectives in respect of the door replacement and at the same time made further enhancements to the internal decor, including new carpet throughout.
